Mission Statement:

Awaken environmental consciousness and extend understanding of the interdependence and diversity of life on planet Earth.

Philosophy:

We believe in creating transformational experiences for our participants. We define experiences as events that engage individuals in a personal way and set the stage for teaching the participants to act, change a behavior or inspire them to new heights of learning. It is our hope that through our public and interpretive programs, we will profoundly alter the way that guests view and apply science, history and the human adventure to their everyday lives by creating memorable, heart-touching experiences. We will accomplish this goal by employing several diverse methods of interpretation that will create an immersive experience for participants. Methodologies include: theatre, hands-on opportunities, one-on-one interaction and fully engaging the body’s senses to create an exciting inquiry-based learning environment.

The Program Development Process:

All members of the EarthVentures team are involved in program development including volunteers. We have developed a structured way of collecting ideas, identifying programs to develop and procedures by which to develop the final interpretive experience for guests.

Training and Professional Development:

Thorough, on-going training of our staff is imperative to keep them updated on the latest information and best interpretive practices. We have regularly scheduled training sessions lead by area experts in the field. Our Adventure Guides attends special training sessions on topics that include everything from improvisational skills, to movement and voice and science data updates from scientists / researchers in the field.
